Sidekick in danger? because SK no longer in Danger?
Confusing title?Confusing words?
or just plain confused?
I think i falled into group #3. Well, I'm not so much confused but moreso a little upset at what happened.
Microsoft buys Danger.
aka the company Danger, aka maker of the Hiptop, aka maker of the Sidekick.
Now, I'm no Applewhore or anything like that, but I had had my own personal qualms with Microsoft, whether it's about the Xbox, about HD-DVD, the lag on phones with their software on it, the fact that Vista isn't that great. Needless to say, I have been leaning more towards moving to Apple products, or I guess, just moving away from MS.
So I think its kinda funny that this was written, a short three weeks ago. To quote:
Who knows, maybe one day I'll go back to the SK (SK4, you BETTER be an upgrade), cuz I played around with the LX, which is definitely sleeker, screen is bigger, but pretty much the exact same phone. If they can make the SK4 more like a standard OS, instead of its tried-and-true-yet-old-and-constricting OS, i might come back.. when's that due date again?
I guess its a classic example of 'be careful what you wish for.' So this basically means that Windows Mobile WILL be on the next edition of the Sidekick, and that the SK is going to probably sync up more with MS products, like the Zune, like Windows Live Messenger, blah blah blah.
With T-Mobile's deal with Danger expiring this December, we've probably seen the last T-Mo exclusive SK in the LX and Slide. And with MS most likely to whore itself out to any mobile provider with money to offer, we can pretty much expect to see a version of the hiptop on AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, erybody. OK, so it was never a 'status symbol' or a 'fashionable item' or whatever, but havin a SK was pretty cool when no one else had one.
I'm just imagining MS pimping this thing out like it was the end of the month and the SK came up short in payments. They saw how much success the iPhone had, and realized that they would never be able to come up with a status phone like that on their own, so what do they do? Just buy the closest thing to it.
I hope I eat my words when the SK4 does come out, but as of right now, it looks like I'll be getting an iPhone2 instead.
